I just used my HRM for the first time today. I am unable to find out how to put your own calories burned on the HRM into the exercises. Any suggestions>

If it is an exercise that already exists, like running, when you go to add it just simply type over the calories that MFP added into the little box before you click the add exercise.
If you are adding one of your own, under "my exercises" just input the name of the exercise, how long you worked out, and how many calories your HRM said you burned.0
