When to get new shoes

Hey MFPers,
I got a decent pair of New Balance running shoes for Christmas and I've been wearing them since, but when should they be broken in? My left foot cramps when I wear them. I didn't have this problem with my old pair of NBs. Did I just get a bad pair?
Edit for spelling.

I feel like sport shoes should feel good right at the beginning. I usually take them back if they don't feel good after wearing them for a couple of hours.0

What are you using the shoes for? Running? If so did you get them from a running store where they measured your foot/gait to make sure you had the proper shoe?
They should be broken in by now for sure - long time ago in fact. Sounds like you got a bad shoe - whether bad in general or not good for you.
To add - the running store will tell you if they don't feel right after a week to take them back in.0
