It's dangerous.
"Are you you hungry?"
"No."
"Ok, I'll make you a little something".
you eat it up.
"All done? Want more?"
"No, thanks"
"Ok, here's some more".
I found that the trick is to just let her put a plate of food in front of you. Then you don't touch it. If the plate's full she can't offer more. It works, to some extent. :bigsmile:0 -
My grandmothers are both dead so they can't force me to eat. And no, I didn't kill them for trying to force me to eat, and you are monsters for even thinking that!

Love it!
But.... Grandma can say it to you0 -

My grandma is Sicilian....... you never tell her you aren't hungry.0

I have a pureblood Sicilian for a grandma too. She is always offering me food and to take me out. I'm VERY good at saying no.0

My grandma was in a wheelchair from a stroke my whole life and lived in a nursing home for half of it. Even in the nursing home, she would have treats she had smuggled out of her meals to give to us when we visit. Grandmas always have food.0

Interesting. My grandma never has food.0

Some grandmas are clearly in a different league. My grandmother force-fed me lima beans until I puked. Rot in hell, granny!0

One should never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.0 -
When I was in my late teens I lived with my paternal grandparents because I had a job where they lived.....
My Nana used to make my lunch and give me heaps of food.....There was no way could I eat it all....I never told her that she gave me too much because I was way too shy to say anything.....I never ate everything....I was a bad girl and threw out what I didn't eat.....
One thing Nana got me onto was crunchy egg and lettuce sangas.....0 -

100% true for sure. Shoot if my kids are going to Grandmas in the next 2 hours I tell them they have to wait for a snack because I KNOW she will feed them anything and everything.0

Never tell grandma you aren't hungry, especially if she hadn't already watched you eat 3x your normal calorie intake. My grandma tries to force feed us baked goods.0

I'm not going to say that my mom made me fat by filling my childhood mouth with food every chance she got but.... yes that's what happen. My grandmother could care less. My mom on the other hand... *grumble*0

A think a movie quote best sums up my life in this domain.
Toula Portokalos: I'm Greek, right?
Ian Miller: Right?
Toula Portokalos: So, what happens is my dad and uncles, they fight over who gets to eat the lamb brain. And then my aunt Voula forks the eyeball and chases me around with it, try to get me to eat it, 'cause it's gonna make me smart. So, you have two cousins, I have 27 first cousins. Just 27 first cousins alone! And my whole family is big and loud. And everybody is in each other's lives and business. All the time! Like, you never just have a minute alone, just to think, 'Cause we're always together, just eating, eating, eating! The only other people we know are Greeks, 'cause Greeks marry Greeks to breed more Greeks, to be loud breeding Greek eaters.
Ian Miller: Wow.0 -
This is sooooo TRUE! Anytime I see my grandmothers they are always to feed me as if I've gone all day without eating. If I say no they don't listen and set a plate in front of me.0

Hilarious!
My Grandma told me I had to chew 100 times before I could swallow, and she would watch!
"Grandma! I'm at 10 and it's like water!"
"Well?! Chew some more!"0
