I would like to do a sponsored run, & the only ones I can find in Bristol are the Race for Life and the 10K. As I want to choose my own charities I've been thinking about the 10K run, however I am super unfit and have never even run for a bus.

Do you think it is possible for me to train and be able to run it by 20th May?

There is a highly rated podcast called NHS Couch to 5k which literally talks you through every workout as you do it. It could be a great way for you to get started. It begins with walking followed by short periods of jogging and the periods increase gradually.

Alternately just get out there and give it a go today. 4 weeks ago I went for my first run and did 4k in a pitiful 27m 30s. I was a mess afterwards. Sweating buckets and really tired. By last week that was down to 22m dead so yesterday I added in another k to take it to 5. It was pretty easy actually and I could have gone faster than my 30mins.

I mention this to illustrate that you shouldn't feel discouraged if the first run is a killer. The body adapts bloody quickly.

Oh and I listen to Jay and Silent Bob Get Old podcast on my way which cracks me up and takes my mind off the drudgery of pounding the pavement.

Absolutely. Find a 5k to do in April and you'll be on your way. :)
