    Hmmmm... in the threads? - its so the thread can appear as recently commented and others can comment as well,,

    It's a way of keeping a post "alive." Posts can get buried and thus forgotten unless they're at the top.

    It's also used by some to mark the post so they can come back to it more easily at a later time as it will show up on their profile.

    It just means that you're "bumping" the thread back up to the top of the list so more people will see it =)
