I know this in the "Fun & Games" area, but didn't know where else to ask. Has anyone every had ingrown toenail surgery? I think i have them and just been dealing with them myself, but i think it's time to see a doc. I've watched videos on YouTube doesn't seem bad after they numb you, and it seems everyone says the needle is the worst part.

Any other thoughts? Good idea, Yes/No?

I had it done when I was young. I don't remember it being painful, it was quick once it's numbed, you'll just feel some pressure. I think I played it up to get a couple days off school, but I was fine the next day. Was a great decision getting it done since I sucked at maintaining my toe nails lol

If you actually have ingrown toenails then it's a great idea. It is a relatively minor procedure, there may be some discomfort afterwards but I would compare it to the pain of an ingrown toenail. Go see a podiatrist
  • I have a similar issue. It isn't significant enough to require surgical help but I can agree it is quite painful. I learned how to trim my nails properly (I missed that "life lessons" class) and that helped somewhat. I had been cutting them too short so I had to let them grow out. That led to "runner's toe" and both of the offending nails got a fresh start. I am waiting to see what happens. One is doing just fine (happy dance!) but the other is being stubborn. Don't take this the wrong way (b/c you're a guy and all) but you might want to consider having someone (a lady in your life?) give you a pedicure every 2-3 weeks. Don't laugh. She would probably love it (well, if she isn't a pedophobe) and it is worth considering if you are still trying to decide on surgery. If poor toenail maintenance is the problem, surgery probably wouldn't help long-term.
