In those areas I don`t see much difference between guys and ladies.
When it comes to communication and emotional responses to things is where we diverge.

Yep you nailed that one on the head!!

And about the sex thing - I think women like it just as much as men, but for some reason it is more shameful for a woman to admit that.

Women shouldn't be ashamed of liking/loving sex. In fact we should demand BETTER sex from our partners.

OMG...I know a few people who sex drives are ridiculous. Woman are def just like men if not worst them men when it comes to sex. I just think woman are not as open as we men are about it.

They are not open about it to men but are to each other.

I love sex, I have never met a guy yet who has been able to keep up with me in that respect. I have had a couple of female lovers who have worn me out though!

I like porn, but only certain kinds (I have particular tastes) and I love written porn more than visual, especially the Victorian stuff, utter filth.

Men and women are very similar, with most of the differences being either obvious (prostate, sperm, Y chromosome vs breasts, eggs and two X chromosomes) or generalisations (men are generally taller, women are generally better drivers). It's individuals who differ the most, and people should embrace their own individuality and personality, and reject what society thinks we should be like based on outdated ideas about men and women.

As for a sex drive, mine is quite low for a man.

I think there are similarities between men and women... If you were to have a hidden camera to observe the way my friends and I behave when we are alone together then i think men would realize just how crude women can be...haha

In the past, I think, society dictated how a man and woman should behave/act... For example, men are supposed to bottle up their emotions and 'act like a man'... While women are supposed to 'act like a lady'...

So I don't think that more and more women are acting like men, I just think more and more women are acting like themselves...being human....being normal...instead of worrying about others judging them.

I actually thought this thread would go a different way lol silly me

When it comes to that the only difference between men and women is woman can take care of them selves pretty successfully. Other than that it is all good!!!

Many children (me) are taught directly or indirectly to be ashamed of the sexuality and to hide their sexual thoughts, desires, feelings, and fantasies. Women and men alike. Women have the voice of culture riding their *kitten*, too, where men not so much.

I believe most american women are walking around with virtual burkas over their sexual thought life, hiding themselves and never discovering that they can be free to express themselves sexually without being labeled a *kitten*.

It's very refreshing to observe women behaving freely and casting off shame in the name of being genuine and authentic and real. Not because I'm a pervert, but because we're all cut from the same knife and have more in common than not when it comes to our basic desires.

The message here.... cast off shame and be authentic with yourself. Live genuinely. It's sexy as hell when women are real! And MFP is full of real women... Woot! :drinker:

I think depends a lot on the person, and in a relationship...the security of the relationship.

I for one have been known to get mad for not getting enough sex. I'll watch porn, don't really care if he watches porn as long as he's not acting like some crackhead about it. I drink beer, I'll help him work on cars, and I really enjoy strip clubs. It's even been joked about a lot how I check out girls *kitten* more than he does.

Think depends lot on the person, but no, I'll admit I do a lot of things that would classify as 'like a man.'

OK. so a male friend of mine and I have lots of discussions on how women and men are really alike, but that women are afraid to admit to it.....so what do yal think?? Do women like sex as much as men, do women like porn and just don't admit it, do women check out men and then not admit to it because women say men are pigs when we catch them doing it.....

I for one love sex, I like porn and if I see a good looking man I am gonna check him out!!!

It depends on the person and how comfortable they are with their sexuality.

me? I will openly admit to loving GOOD sex. I watch porn. I need to buy stock in Duracell and Energizer. I've been known to check out women more than men. Do men think we're pigs when there's a group of us out at the bar checking out the scenery? Oh hell no. So why do some women think men are pigs for doing the same?

I like sex more as much if not more than men. I check out men all the time. I check out women all the time. I watch porn. And I'm not afraid to admit to any of it.

    ^^^^ THIS

This. I think there are many differences between us, however not when it comes to sex, the opposite sex or the same sex for that matter, or porn.

I must be the only one here who thinks men really do have higher sex drives. Isn't that what testosterone is all about?

My wife always tells me when her and her friends check out guys, its not in an 'i want to bang him' kind of way, the way it is when me and the guys check out girls. I'm so lost.

oh, i am open to men about it! I leave nothing hidden in that aspect...afterall I want someone who can keep up with me! Now with that being said...having a large sex drive and being open about it does NOT mean I am gonna jump in bed with every Tom, ****, or Harry.

Hate to break it to you but your wife is LYING (lol, women do that), She checkin out the men, the same way guys check out chicks, she's just sparing your feelings, I suppose.

p.s. I hope you take that as the joke it is intended as, sarcasm always gets lost online.

There's no way she's lying though. I'm very liberal about sex, she knows my feelings aren't at stake here. She will in all seriousness tell me that *most* of her friends are not that interested in sex. She doesn't understand those that are.

Not lying at all, I do check out men but not to be with them either. Also even though I do think about it, it is not on my mind all the time and I rarely think about it with other men I am happily married and I only want my man!!! It depends on the person :flowerforyou:

I don't think it's so much that women don't like sex as much as men or don't like porn. I think there is definitely a difference. Men think about sex more often, and in more contexts, than women.

Yes. We all have testosterone, women just generally have less.

However - the following I believe is very true - except for the last part.
I believe most american women are walking around with virtual burkas over their sexual thought life, hiding themselves and never discovering that they can be free to express themselves sexually without being labeled a *kitten*.

It's sad, really. By and large - women are still labeled as sluts or *kitten* if they behave as a man would sexually. Think about it. In general, if a man has, say, 20+ partners he is congratulated - a stud. If the same is true of a woman - she is mostly considered 'tainted goods'. (Yes - friends - I wrote 'taint'.)

Isn't the man with 20+ partners tainted in your eyes though? Its thought of by women just not spoken out loud like a man would.

So I think with respect to the checking him out thing- I check out men all the time. "I want to bang him" is not the first thing that comes to mind for a couple of reasons. 1) I am married, so banging him is out of the question, therefore, I check him out and assess whether I think he is hot or look at his assets that I find attractive and 2) I am picky- it takes a lot for me to say- I want to bang him. So most of the time, I check out guys and may find them attractive for some reason or another, but wouldn't necessarily want to bang him so to speak.

And most guys are thinking "I want to bang her" even though they don't really have any plans to. That's m point I guess. Men are very different even if they don't act on it.

Because it requires a lot of skill for a guy to find that many women willing to sleep with him.

On the contrary, it is very easy for a female to find that many men willing to sleep with her.

I don't think there's anything wrong myself, but that's the distinction.

More importantly, why does society make women feel like they cannot be open about these things, if men can?
