Hi All,

I am giving this another try. My main issue has always been portion size and snacks. I know the correct options to eat healthy I just don't when I know that I should. So any helpful healthy foods that can curb those nasty fast food cravings would be helpful. Also, I hate peanut butter...so no suggestions from that front. I look forward to the support and weight loss that I hope to gain from using this forum.

Thanks!

I have to count out the crackers or chips or whatever the snack is and put it in a bowl and then put AWAY the box. There is no way I'll stop at 16 crackers if the box is still open!!

The way I do it is to weigh things and now with this site I can see my exact calorie count for the day. I have a digital scale called Escali that I got from Amazon for about 23 bucks or so. If I'm having any kind of seeds or nuts, (good for you but calorically dense), I weigh them. I'll usually have no more that 1 oz.

Another thing I do, (for packaged foods), is look for the portion size listed on the box and weigh that out. Usually it's much less than I'd take by eye-balling it. And like Imalaschak said, afterward you "put AWAY the box."

Additionally, I weigh myself once a week and if I think I need to make an adjustment it's easy to look back over the week's menu and see where I can tweak it.

As for liking peanut butter, (or not), there are other nut butters out there like almond butter or cashew butter. You might like the taste of one of those better and it might be worth it to give it a try.
