So I love fish, i normally eat salmon/tilapia/trout/shrimp, you get the picture.. lol I've had cod several times at restaurants and loved it... but I just bought a bunch of it and cant seem to make it taste delicious! Does anyone have any delicious and healthy reciepies for cod?? It would be a great help!

  • This is the only fish I eat.

Normally, I bake it in tin foil with some butter flavored spray, garlic and salt.

Lately though, I just bought a grilling pan (all the taste of grilling instead of having to be stuck outside!) and it's amaaazing. Garlic, salt, butter flavored spray...it gets slightly crispy on the outside and mmm.

The cod I've had requires that you soak it in water, toss it, then soak it again in order to remove the excess salt that they cure it in. Other than that, I would check out any "Portuguese" cookbook for great recipees for Cod!

I will have to check that out..Thank you
  • Put paprika, cayenne, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and dried parsley or oregano on top of frozen cod fillet. Squeeze juice from half a lemon on top. Place in oven that has been pre-heated to 400 degrees and bake for 30-40 minutes until fish is white and flaky.

In bowl put 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon cilantro, 1 clove minced garlic, and other half of your lemon juice. Microwave till melted, stir, and pour over fish before serving.

I don't measure spices cause I don't go off of a recipe but apply liberal amounts of all the spices. Fish should almost form a slight crust. I sometimes hit it on broil for a couple minutes before pulling from oven.

    Enjoy!

I do dry baking for cod usually, well.. sometimes with lemon juice etc...

that cod you've got to rinse is salt-cod and is supremely salted, a single 100gram serving has something like 3 x your daily sodium allowance. Ugh.
But a cod fillet.... baked with some condensed milk made an immensely tasty treat.

Open up your spice cupboard and experiment. I've been enjoying chipotle powder on chicken, salmon, trout... so I guess I'll enjoy it on cod as well... haven't got to it as yet.

DIp the fillet in either lemon juice or egg to moisten and roll it in hemp hearts, or crushed almonds....

My favorite way to cook it is to bake it (covered) with some lemon juice and white wine, along with whatever fresh herbs I have on hand. When it is almost done I take off the lid/foil and let it finish up. This also works nicely on potatoes, too. I used to put a bit of butter in there too, if you have the calories to splurge a little bit on top of the cod at the very end should work nicely too.

We make tortilla crusted cod at the school I work at and it is yummy. I can't find the exact recipe, but this one is close except we used crushed tortilla strips (the multi colored ones) instead of torn corn tortillas and cod instead of tilapia. It is so good!

I take frozen cod fillets, place them in a pan with a bit of low cal butter and crushed garlic. I top it with red and yellow bell peppers, purple onion, dill and lemon juice. Cover with foil and bake till done. Very yum!

I love eating cod...One of my fav recipes is cod & sour cream. Basically, put your cod pieces in a baking dish, top with chopped onion, pepper & salt to taste. Dump in a tub of sour cream ( or 2 depending on how much fish ) and top with grated cheese. Bake at 350 covered with foil for an hour...YUM :)

I hate the taste of fish but in the name of trying to eat healthier I am giving Cod a try. My husband and kids eat it so it won't go to waste. Thanks for sharing. I"ll try these all.
