Boyfriend = FAT?!

So, I had bad couple of weeks, I did go to the gym, just not 6 days a week like I have been and I did eat OK just not ever day...the good news is, I don't appear to have put any weight on, but I was back with a vengeance on Monday...
...that was until, my boyfriend (who I go to the gym with every day) says "Are you sure you want to go to the gym?"
It seems like an innocent enough question but my will power isn't strong enough and half the time I pull through and make him go and half the time, like last night, I give in. So easily!!!! I feel really awful today and wondered if anyone has any tips on how to ignore this kind of hinting question if they have to go to the gym with their partner?
My gym is away from where I live and I only joined it because he said he'd go everyday etc! It'd cost me twice as much as I currently pay to get busfare etc :noway:

Mmmm I know what you mean, hinting questions can really put you off. My advice is that if he says anything like that again. Answer simply 'yes', and while your telling him, tell yourself. YOU want to go to the gym because by the end of all the hard work you'll have rock-hard abs, toned legs and arms and you'll feel fantastic. Thats what I did and it does work.
Working out at home is good fun too, I joined the gym and kept it up but had to give it up because of the membership feesbut my sister bought me a Wii fit for my birthday and I've never looked back, its a good fun way to work out privately in your own home.
Keep it up chick!0 -
My guy usually is the one dragging me along, he loves to workout! But if yours doesn't then I'd say find a friend to keep you company, and to keep you motivated. Even a colleague at work?0

I sit here on MFP every morning with my yogurt waiting for my boyfriend to get out of bed for our "8:00" jog. It's 8:08 right now and he shows no signs of actually getting out of bed:grumble: . I could easily stay in bed longer, but every single day for the last 3 weeks, I've gotten out of bed right on time:drinker: , and sat here and waited for him. Thanks goodness for MFP for giving me something to do with my 15 minutes or so every morning :happy:0

One thing I have struggled with is finding balance in my life. I have an hour and a half commute each way to work and so my evenings are precious. So sometimes I do feel guilty leaving my hubby at home alone to go to the gym. But he knows how important this is to me and supports me 100%. Sometimes he even encourages me to go when I am starting to make excuses not to. I think I'm probably a happier person to be around when I've let off some steam at the gym.
I think you should tell your boyfriend how important this is to you and that you need his support an encouragement. Tell him that sometimes your willpower is weak and that you need and want him to give you that extra push. Also remind him of all the benefits of you going to the gym -- not just the weight loss and increased confidence in yourself but the increased energy levels too :blushing:0
