Latex Allergy?

After 36 perfectly healthy years, spending a year in Afghanistan seemed to trigger a latex allergy. I'm getting increasingly frustrated as nearly every piece of fitness equipment I come in contact with seems to have trace elements of latex. It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but a combination of weights, my arc trainer, and beloved lululemon yoga mat have conspired to cause my palms to go through a nasty cycle of blistering and cracking. Are there any other avid exercisers out there with Latex allergies? Have you found any good barrier methods to minimize the impact? Seems that many of the fitness gloves have latex in them:-(
