Ok-- so I don't know if this is where I should post this or not..........
I was just diagnosed as having arthritis in my foot/big toe. I got fitted for orthotics today, and should receive them in a few weeks. My podiatrist recommends still running for as long as I can without pain, as the benefits far outweigh the negatives. She also said that my recent weight loss of 40 lbs is good, and I should try not to gain any back, as it will stress out the joints. The arthritis is probably what caused me to have plantar fasciitis this summer and sprain my foot a few weeks ago, as I tend to baby the foot a bit unconsciously. Hopefully that will improve with the orthos.
About me: I am in my mid-30s, lost 40 lbs last year, and have been in maintenance since August/Sept. I run 3-5 miles a day, 4-5 times a week, and do circuit/strenght training 2 or 3 times a week. I have two kidlets.... so not alot of free time. I've been working out alot less the past few weeks, but am about to start working out harder as my sprain improves.
I try to eat clean, but it's about 60-70% of the time.... the rest of the time is better than it was a year ago.
Anyone else have arthritis, especially in their feet? Is there a good website/resource for it? What exercises do you do? What foods do you eat to help yourself or avoid to make yourself healthier? Help?
Thank you!
