I eat only clean foods.. i have lost 6 lb so far, i am at 195lb, at my size, I don't see why I can't eat more.. I'm freaking out and going crazy because i don't want to plateu.. i havent lost any weight in the past three days, i am getting muscle but i guess only I see it, since everyone else is just kinda like.. "ehh.. I guess I see something.." and It just makes me feel crappy... I'm gonna keep doing p90x because its better to do something than to not do anything at all... I just feel like I'm doing the nutrition part wrong..

I am also on P90x...just started my first week of Phase II. I love it!
I was having a hard time losing weight, and basically broke it down like this: Your body should get a minimum of 1200 calories (or more depending on your weight) EVERY DAY to function. You also NEED to eat back the calories you burn.
Example: I need 1200 calories, I did the Arms, Back Triceps and Ab Ripper workout today, and burned 860 calories (according to my HRM). Today I will need to eat 2060 calories to feed my muscles what they exerted today and what my body needs to function. The minimum calories are figured by MFP for weight loss so don't think about 'eating less'. Get a Heart Rate Monitor, it's going to be your best friend, I feel so much better now that I am properly feeding my body. (I found out that MFP severely underestimates calories burned-at least for me)
If you DON'T eat back at least MOST of the calories you burned, your body is going to feed off of the newest food first, the muscle you've just built because it's hungry for fuel, the fat is a 'reserve'. Your body needs to know that you are going to properly fuel it, so that when you have a deficit, it will use the stored fat rather than the muscle you've worked so hard to build. At first, I wasn't eating back my calories, and a fitness buddy told me I was probably 'bonking' where my body just stops, I've even gotten really tired and fell asleep in the middle of the day! So I started eating back my exercise calories.
I have lost a total of 3 Lbs in the last 4 weeks, because my body is building muscle, once I build a good foundation of muscle, the muscle will burn off the fat. Try eating a hand full of almonds (high in protein and calories-just not too much!), I also eat cottage cheese, Pumpkin Flax cereal (dry). It's nutrient dense, keeps me full, and is a little higher in calories to help me meet my goal.
Every day is a new learning day, I come here read the boards, and read as much as I can about nutrition and exercise on the web.
Keep Going! )0 -
thank you so much for replying, imma start adding a hand full of almonds, Im trying to find the calories from somewhere, I may start eating two protein bars a day, instead of one, that will definatelly up my calories, its just dificult trying to find calories to eat. I added a clif builder bar and drinking powerade zero and I went from having no energy to being awake and alert for the rest of the day..0

Hi, you might want to look at stuff like the ProBars instead of two protein bars - not sure what else to say about getting more calories - somedays I have the same problem.0

Hi All ~ I'm doing the P90X as well... I was getting a little discouraged because I wasn't losing as much weight as I thought I should be either.. however... when I did my measurements they had went down.. So it was comforting to know that my body composition was changing for the better.. You may want to try the assessment tools at the heathcentral website that give you an estimate of body fat, hip to waist ratios, etc. Good luck!0
