Protein Bars!!!! LOL..I went shopping for protein bars and OMG there are sooo many!!!! I have no idea which ones to choose, so if you have a fave I would love to try it out:)) Another question I have: What do you eat before a super early workout?? I wakeup and hit the gym all in 30 min. I am anemic and have low blood sugar, so unless I want to end up on the floor, I need something in my stomach that wont take long to digest, but also not full of sugar...I tried the black coffee thing, doesn't work for me..I would love to hear what you do:)

Really.. Most of them are garbage. Just high priced candy bars with some sub par protein. Also, beware of sugar alcohols. They often can be unsettling to the GI tract and had a weird flavor.
Quest bars are probably some of the best, but they aren't sold locally that I am aware of.0 -
I agree that protein bars are mostly garbage. Instead, eat lean meats, nuts, white cheeses, eggs. Greek yogurt has a good amount of protein too, but lots of sugar in it. I think any of the above mentioned things are good for pre-work out too, along with a peice of fruit to keep your sugar level up.
My concern is, why are you anemic? You are young and healthy, so I think that you need to try to figure out the cause. And eat lots of green, leafy veggies too! :-)0 -
I usually eat a banana or Greek yogurt pre-workout. Any more than that and I'll hurl in front of my trainer.0

I have always been anemic...since I can remember..I was never one to eat meat or veggies, until I would say, a month ago...I would honestly go months without a vegetable or piece of meat..we ate pasta or anything that came out of a box. I am supposed to take a multivitamin, but they make me nauseous even taken at night..that is sad to hear they r bad for u..I was looking for something super fast to eat since I'd have it as.an afternoon snack at work..which sometimes needs to be eaten.as I.am working.0
