I am getting married in October 2012 and I am really stuck on what colors I should have. It is a country/farm/barn wedding and obviously it will be Fall Time. I was thinking Dark Red, Orange and Brown because they are fall colors but I am not really too into the orange but I want to use pumpkins for decorations at our wedding so I am confused on what I should do. I cant really start planning anything until I know what my colors are going to be....I also thought about dark blue and purple? .I was looking up bridesmaids dresses last night online and I like the one below in dark red...what do you think? I also have the wedding dress I have had my eye on since May 2011, I want to lose this weight before trying it on...

So far I have black Lanterns for my centerpeices with round mirrors to go under them.

http://rosiewedding.com/tag/blue/ what do you think of these colors?

Please give me your advice on wedding colors, they can be completely different, I just need some help deciding!! Thanks

  • We had our wedding in October. We used like the old apple orchard baskets and filled them with pumkins & gords. Our colors were gold, bronze, deep brown, then our orange came with the pumpkins even our flower girl carried a pumkin basket filled with leaves. There also some great ideas using white pumpkins. Good Luck.

You could do dark red and brown, and maybe some kind of gold color if you don't like the orange. You can still do pumpkins without having orange as one of your official colors. You don't have to have everything in that color scheme.

My wedding was October and I went with a dark red theme. It turned out really nice.

The dresses you linked are great - and while the first one looks wonderful in red, I think I'd consider the brown option too.

Beautiful dress!! I think you can do a lot with red and brown - there are so many shades of brown that you can create texture and interest without much effort. However, think about what your venue is going to look like in the fall and decorate accordingly. You may find that Nature does the decorating for you! You can use pumpkins without making orange one of your colors. I went to Home Depot and played with the paint chips for a little while, haha.

I'm also looking into doing a rustic wedding! It's slightly different from barn/farm-style wedding, but they're similar in many ways. Here are some great links I found:

Stick with the fall colors!!! Im using Morilee.com - cactus, chocolate, and jalapeno (all fall colors) You may want to check their dresses out they have a bit more variety than Davids... Im personally kind of tired of seeing David's dresses...

We got married in November. My bridesmaids wore orange dresses. My bouquet had red and peach roses, purple calla lilies, white hydrangea, and green cymbidium orchids. The bridemaids' bouquets were red and peach roses, green cymbidium orchids and hypericum. I started with red, gold and sage, but my sister looked awesome in the orange dress and it worked.

My niece had an October wedding and used deep navy for the bridesmaid dresses, with orange flowers in the bouquets and pumpkins with the centerpieces. It was stunning.
