weird question about bulky muscles

Maybe this is a weird question, but I have some hefty quads. Thigh work is a daily part of my workout (i'm in love with the ellipticals), but I've definitely gotten very bulky thighs over the last couple years, and when the muscle's contracted, my legs look like football player's. It's way more than I want, and it looks pretty gross in my ballet class where long and lean is ideal...So my question is whether there is a way to smooth and lengthen out those bulky muscles. I stretch all the time as part of my dancing, but any other advice on how to work on this?

Nope, if your quads really are as big as you say they are its genetics. There is no way to change them.

You could stop eating all together and lose all of your muscle mas, but that wouldn't be very safe.

I kind of doubt they are actually that big though since you make it sounds like you don't lift. The elliptical isn't going to give you bulky legs, not enough resistance to build substantial muscle.

They just seem bulky to me, probably just as a girl, and as a dancer surrouned by all these petite stringy bodies in class. If it's genetics then I won't give it another thought and embrace it, just wanted to see if there WAS anything to do about it. Thanks!

Though i haven't seen your legs, you make it out to sound like genetics. The only other reason your legs would seem bulky would be

    1. You weight lift and do steroids
    2. You are just self conscious
    3. You are over-weight

    1. I'm 22 years steroids-free :P
    2. Probably just self-conscious because of the aforementioned environment in which I'm judging my legs
    3. not overweight
    Thanks again for the help!
  • You may have a bigger frame as well to make it seem bigger.
Long as they are not flabby I wouldn't worry. :-)
