fitbit ultra and pacemakers?

I am very interested in getting a fitbit ultra. Does anyone know if it can be used by someone who has an implanted pacemaker/defibrillator?
I know fitbit now makes a scale that measures BMI that I cannot use because of electrical signals it sends. I have googled it and checked the fitbit website to find out info about the ultra, to no avail.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I am not aware of the Fitbits sending electrical signals into you, but I have really no clue.0

You don't even have to have fitbit touching your skin, you can wear it clipped to part of your clothing. I don't think it sends out any signals into your body, it's mainly a really fancy pedometer that measures movement.
Also you don't need a fancy scale to tell you BMI, it's a simple calculation of the relation between your height and weight, and MFP has a tool at the top under the 'tools' tab where you can type in your current weight and it will tell you your BMI for free. :-)0 -
Yes you can use the fitbit ultra with a pacemaker/defibrillator. It works the same as a cell phone and you should keep it 12 inches away from your device. The reason you can not use the scale is because it has magnets and sends electromagnetic interference, which can affect the device. I have a couple patients that use the ultra. Hope this helps.0

Thanks for the feedback! I figured that it would probably be safe for me to use, but just wanted to see if others knew. I am going to contact my device company just to verify. I appreciate everyone's responses!0

What did your device company say? I'm interested too and I have a pacemaker.

I just received the aria and it says no pacemaker. It dosent state that on the site. I need the phone number to get the info on a return. Does anyone have it. I looked all over and cannot find it.0

I have had a fitbit for a few weeks now with no problems. I always keep it on the right side of my body though, and I use the wrist strap to keep it around my ankle as often as possible. Why take chances with keeping it closer to my pacemaker than normal? I know for a fact that the aria scale by fitbit is off limits for us(as are most other similar devices), and that info is now listed on the website!0
