3 Day Fast ! ----Who wants to join me ?----

Hiya....
i'm really getting into this, and iv received so much help and confidence from the people on this site.
I've been planning on doing a 3 day fast for a real long time now. And i feel like now is the right time.
I just feel very confident in myself right now to be capable of it.
So my QUESTION is . . . Would anyone like to join me on this 3 Day Fast.
Just so were clear, the fast includes:
No eating any solids at all for those 3 days.
You can drink as much water as you want obviously.
You can drink low calorie juices, lemon water, maple syrup mixture,
cyan w. water, milk, tea, (& things like that).
I'm really pumped about it !
I just thought it would be great to form a group on here and whoever wants t join is welcome!!!!
I'll be starting my fast this upcomming Monday.
So i'll post on the board this week for anyone who wants to join.
3 days dousnt sound like a long time, but it can be really tricky, and it takes a lot of will power.
SO WHAT DO YOU SAY ? anyone think they might join in for the challenge ???

i'm sorry to rain on your parade again but a fast with milk  and all other liquids in it is no fast at all, it either on water only or you call it "milk cleanse" or "3 day liquid diet"0
-
This is only if you really feel the need to eat. I wouldnt want anyone hurting themselves.
I guess you wont be joining then?0 -
I'd like to try for one day, but I don't think I can do 3.0
-
ok sounds great!
im starting monday. want to do it then?
cuz id like to know how you do

umm, no way i do a "milk cleanse" this Monday, it's like the worst thing to drink while you are trying to clean your body (and mind)... actually i like a 1-day water fast now and then, it helps me in a very spiritual way - like making sure that my life is no longer controlled by food... it's really not necessary to do it though considering that you are already leading a healthy lifestyle and at a calorie deficit...
if you decide to do some kinda fast or cleanse like what you are suggesting here, you try to pick a spiritually beneficial day like Ekadashi (next one is April 21st), then it's good to have more people do it together with you to release more energy and have increased benefits for everyone in the fasting group...
i read and i am interested in a lot of things and this is one of them but i don't think i am spiritual on a high enough level to take part in something like this. yes, i believe this is a very SPIRITUAL thing and doing it for the sole purpose of weight loss is just not right.0 -
Well then lol
you have made some sort of point then.
But since im not religious i choose to do otherwise & also believe "we" as individuals choose our own fast our own way because we are not mindless drones haha
so goodluck to you then.
:smokin:

Thininspired, what is your purpose in doing it? I've often wanted to try one, but I'm not sure the benefits versus the harm. Isn't SlimFast like a "liquid diet". Could you do that for three days straight? Just curious, what's the purpose? I can't imagine any weight loss being permanent, but I don't know. Maybe re-training your body?0
-
The reason and purpose is all our own.
Alot of people do it to look good before a special event coming up.
Some for other reasons.
I however just want to lose couple more lbs and when we lose weight that motivates us to lose even more or just work hard to maintain that current weight.
Its all up to you

I have done a 3 day juice fast and it was awesome. The one thing I had to do was wean myself off coffee because you are not supposed to have coffee during the fast since it can make you feel worsse. My friend did it with me and she cheated a little and had a much harder time than I did. I think the point is if you allow yourself milk it may make your fast harder. Anyway, it is your fast. One bit of advice, I made a pottasium broth (boiled water with potatoe peels, beet tops, herbs, onion, garlic) and it gave me a lot of energy during the fast. I also drank lots of Coconut water (really hydrating and only 60 calories!) and I made spiced hot apple cider as a treat. Good luck!0

I don't understand why it matters why she is doing it. She just simply asked someone to join her, if you don't agree then don't post. I don't agree with trying to bring people down like that!0 -

in what way do i tell my opinion on something without bringing someone down on a free forum? i thought that was the idea of the threads in general?0 -
I really just meant that I didn't see the point in posting just to say you don't agree, :when the question was who wants to join me not who agrees with me. Everyone does have there opinion!
I couldn't nor wouldn't do a fast for three days ! and that is my opinion :drinker:0 -
now now, lets not be neeeegative!
We are all here to be supportive of one another, not lash out at eachother over a difference in opinion.0 -
I am sorry I did not mean to lash out at anyone or big negative .... :blushing: :drinker:0

Actually my opinion here might have been affected by what i posted in the OP's other thread http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/48750-control-hunger-better If you have read that you'd probably understand why I don't approve that someone with underweight BMI would go on a fast for the purpose of losing weight. Otherwise i do approve of fasting but i think it has to be something very mental/spiritual because if you have dedicated your mind to it you won't suffer from the inevitable feeling of hunger.
This is a fitness forum so considering that most people here have switched to an active lifestyle (which you are unable to maintain during the days of food abstaining), it's really not a wise idea to just come out suggesting we start a fast on Monday without adding some additional instructions how to do this correctly or at least tell people to do a little research on the matter before they go on a fast for the first time (i see people who are interested but haven't done it before). I have seen other threads on MFP about fasting so you can do a search here or at least follow these basic survival instructions:
During a fast you are not supposed to work out. The most you can do if you insist on excercising is go for a walk or do very light general gymnastics. I think most people will realize they feel so weak when they quit food that I don't even need to explain why you shouldn't workout.
A fast is typically preceded and followed by eating very light. I know that common sense will tell you to eat a hearty dinner the night before you start the fast but in reality your body will "accept" the fast in a much better manner if you have a light dinner before you start it. This is not a must but it's generally recommended. On the other hand, introducing the food back after the end of the fast MUST be done slowly. I know you will probably feel hungrier than a wolf but your first meal has to be just fruit, then the next one a light salad, then the rest of the foodstuff. I don't want to quote what I have read can happen if you have a very big meal after a fast and I really hope you will do it carefully. :flowerforyou:0 -

Thank you for posting that! I agree that someone with an underweight BMI should not be fasting. I personally do not feel that fasting helps with weightloss but I guess some people like a quick fix! :flowerforyou:0 -

Oh hey thank you! yeah iv done it and drank milk, coffee, etc and i agree it is harder, so no i personally dont do that anymore.

I'm sorry that you can't see this but people mention it because you need help. Please get some.0 -
Apparently she decided that we weren't helping her cuz her account has been deactivated.
Does that mean No fasting???:noway:
I'm really scared for her because it BLOWS me away that someone can actually think that way and be serious about it. :frown: :noway: :huh:0 -

She is a very sick person. I don't understand it either, it seems like COMMON SENSE, especially because she is most likely already suffering from the lack of nutrition. What's worse, is poor nutrition can make mental diseases worse. She's caught in a vicious cycle. I guess unless you have anorexia nervosa, it's not going to make sense.
I fear that poor girl is going to starve herself to death. It's both sad and maddening. She needs a family member to commit her. Where are her friends and family? Can't they see it? :grumble:
I guess this is a waste of time since she's deactivated her account, but maybe someone else with the same problem will read this thread and have the common sense to get help. :frown:0
