Hello MFP. I see a lot of posts about people who will be getting surgery to take care of loose skin. I will probably never be in the position to do that due to financally. I know money can always be saved up, but probably not a realistic thing for me to think of doing. Are there any people on here who are not going to be considering plastic surgery? It can be for any reason: you don't have the money, you just dont want to etc. I just want to know I am not the only person who wont be doing it (ok I know I'm not the only one, but hearing from some people will make me feel more comfortable. Hope you are all having a great weekend!

I'm with you, I will not be having surgery to take care of loose skin. Though I suppose it depends on how much loose skin.
I would not do it just because I would not want to go under the knife for cosmetic reasons.

no thanks, the idea of surgery does not do it for me.....it would be an elective surgury. .

Money is the reason I can't have it. My "mommy apron" has gotten so bad, it keeps me in a size larger jeans than I would be right now. I wouldn't really complain, it's just, I want my outside to look as good as my "inside" feels. I've dreamed of wearing a bikini, but will never be able to. :(

I'm not doing it either! I wear the battle scars of childbirth but a tummy tuck would be 10k? I that $ would be better put to use in her college fund. Plus, once I go down the road of surgically correcting things I don't like about myself, where will it end? My ears stick out, I've got some bat wings, wrinkes, etc. I just can't go there.

I don't think I would do that. I'll never say never but the cost would be a factor. If I had that kind of money I'd rather spend it on a vacation or caps for my teeth. Not that my teeth are terrible, but they'd look better with caps. I have a friend that had it done and she looks fantastic, but the thought of another surgery is not appealing.
  • It depends on your weight loss and how much your loosing. There are some insurances that will pay for it if it's "medically necessary". However medically neccasary is very difficult to prove and you have to get prior approval ect. And normally they will not do it unless you loose so much weight that the excess skin is causing severe medical problems. Just a little on the insurance side. I will not be because I honestly do not believe I'll need it. I'll be loosing about 60 lbs all total once I'm done and I don't think I'll have that much loose skin.

If I had the money, I would undoubtedly get a tummy tuck. I'm disheartened that I lost all the weight I put on over the last eight years, only to have sagging skin which makes me appear larger than I really am. I thought I'd like the way I look, but I constantly find myself displeased with my appearance, even with the tremendous loss I've managed.
