I wondering why 250 lbs of fat is worse weight to have on your bones than the same of muscle?

I was wondering becasue although I am healthy( no diseases, health issues or mobility issues due to my weight) most people are telling me it is the weight on my frame that is unhealthy. Logically to me weight is weight and it got me wondering if muscle weight would have the same effect on a persons frame? I am not looking for an excuse not to loose weight obviously muscle is healthier than excessive fat. I am not trying to justify being overweight I am honestly just curious as to why being overweight in muscle does not have the same effect on someones joints or body frame. Maybe it does and body builders just deal with it?

Muscle is used to support your body's weight. So if you have strong muscles, it puts less strain on your body than if you have an abundance of fat and not enough muscle to support it.

Also there's the diseases associated with obesity such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc. that you need to worry about. Those aren't typically associated with lean, muscular types.

Also the more lean muscle you have, the less likely you are to become obese for metabolic reasons. All things being equal, if you have 2 people weighing 200 pounds; One with 14% Body fat and the other with 30%BF. The person with less bodyfat most likely has more lean muscle and will metabolize nutrients more efficiently. Muscle burns fat more efficiently.

I understand this line of reasoning. I have not read other responses but I want to say that when a person has bad knees they are given exercises to build the muscles that support the knee. I am thinking that the weight on your frame might be the same but that muscle makes the frame supported and thus stronger whereas fat hangs from the weight as opposed to supporting it....Think of when you carry a child...when a 3 year old needs to be carried but they hold on and wrap their legs and arms around you they are much easier to carry than when you are trying to carry a sleeping and floppy kid....

That makes sense. I was just curious becasue you see people in each extreme, morbidly obese and then body builders with crazy amounts of muscle and it just got me wondering.
