Marathon equipment advice needed

Hi folks, my better half and I are planning taking part in a 26mile sponsored walk this summer.

Does anyone have any advice on footwear that should be worn, or what to look for when buying?

    Find a running store (not a sporting goods store). Tell them what you will be doing in your shoes and they will watch you walk/guide you to the proper shoes to wear.
