I have no car, no money, and hardly enough time to even THINK about going to the gym. I'm limited to cafeteria food or vending machine food...and the most exercise I get is from walking between classes.

Does anyone know any exercise routines that are dorm room friendly? And what kinds of caf food is or isn't particularly healthy

Stair climbing, trust me, great calorie burning. But specifically in your dorm room, try something like a Jillian Michaels workout. I do 30 day shread, only takes about 25 min, and is a great workout. Also Im not sure what college you go to, but my university has all of the calories for all their cafe items online, so you can accurately track the information

Buy a slow cooker. You can make delicious meals that will be healthy and economical.
    Good luck!

When I was in college there were plenty of options, food wise. If I had classes all day, I could grab a salad (dressing comes in a tube, so I only use it when greens start getting boring) or salmon sushi. Otherwise, I would eat at the dining hall. It was buffet style, which led to many freshmen 15. Stay away from soda, sugary drinks, ice cream, dessert, etc... Go easy on anything saucy. Make sure you grab something green with every meal, so you aren't filling up on bad stuff. A lot of the bread products tend to be refined, and bleached, so stay away from them, if you can. For example, if it is Mexican day, get the beans if they aren't refried, and some salsa and lettuce. Skip the rice and tortillas. If it's Asian day, skip anything breaded, fried, and covered with sauce like Orange Chicken. If it's Italian day, only eat a small portion of the bad stuff, and try to fill your plates with fruits and veggies.

The main cause of weight gain is probably alcohol. If you must drink, choose the strong, clear stuff without the sugary additives.

For exercise, I walked to school. After my first year, I lived in apartments about a mile away, so it was a decent walk. The gym fee was included in tuition, so I found time to go. When you go, if you sprint, you can spend less physical time at the gym, and burn more calories.

The university I went to had a healthy bar and all access to the gym. Check into your school and see if they have access to the gym for students. If it is only for those who are in kinesiology classes or extra curricular activities, look into joining a fitness class next semester as an elective. Until then, walk faster to your classes, or take the long way around, take the stairs and do jumping jacks, squats, lunges, pushups, situps, and reverse pushups in your room.

Oh and check out youtube. You'd be suprised all the free workout videos you can find on there.
