Is there anything you can do about belly fat?

I've read that cutting the sugar out and cutting out the simple carbs helps to eliminate belly fat.0

If only you could target it, it will come off all over...0

mostly its just general fat loss.
its more hormones that tells our bodies where to store fat or lose it. the only difference in good and bad carb foods are nutrients. all carbs get turned into glucose no matter if its whole grain or bleached bread.0 -

That's soooo true! You can not spot-reduce. What you can do is losing fat in general (keeping in mind that the fat you hate the most will be the last to leave!) and exercise (because there is nothing as spot-reducing, but there sure is spot-toning!).
I wish you luck and perseverance! :flowerforyou:0 -

Strength training can help along with a small deficit. This will allow you to maintain or gain a little lean muscle mass. But overall, it's total body fat reduction. But the more muscle you have, the more calories your burn and the more fat should be targeted. It's why programs such as P90X work so well.0

It's true you can't spot reduce, but the quality of your food makes a difference. (I have a similar problem, and I have started eating more beans -- complex carbohydrates and a little protein with each meal, along with nuts, etc. as snacks).
The Flat Belly Diet has some useful tips. It suggests eating MUFAs (monounsaturated fats) with every meal or snack.
I haven't followed their eating plan specifically, but it has some good information in it. Some of belly flat can be bloating, so if you have any food sensitivities, you can ease bloating by avoiding certain foods.
In any case, I've just focused on the quality of my food -- more whole foods, less processed. But I'm not obsessive. And, I have tracked my food which helps.
Finally, I've read that increases in cortisol increase belly fat. Some people lose around their waist when their sleep improves , both amount and quality of sleep. So, learning stress reduction and getting better sleep can be helpful.0
