Counting carbs...?

Options
Can I just check whether on Low carb you are meant to count the actual carbs or the sugars or something else?

Just wanted to check I have been doing it right for the past couple of years...! LOL

UPDATE - Just googled it and I have been counting all wrong! Looks like I'll have to set up my NET CARB food on MFP!

Effective Carbohydrate Count (GROSS CARBS)

Start with: Total Carbohydrates
Subtract: Dietary Fiber
Subtract: Sugar Alcohols
Subtract: Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate
Subtract: Glycerine

The balance equals: Effective Carb Count (NET CARBS)

Apparently the carb count on food in the UK is already the NET carbs, we don't have to subtract fibres!! So I have been counting it right after all :)

Is there a sizable low carb community in the UK?

The health patrol over there seems to be more rabidly low fat than the states.

My carb count is quite low anyway (about 20g) so I am glad that I shouldn't have been subtracting fibre! :D Thanks :) There are a few low carbers on here from the UK :)
