So... i am on day 2 of MFP. Seems easy so far to keep track of calories and exercise! Lots of great advice! Like making goals you know you have control of and pre-entering food to allow for the foods you don't want to skip!
I am so encouraged by everyone's up-beat attitude and helpful comments to each other. I have never been a dieter so that might be why I am here now! Weddings for 2 daughters has brought on the harsh reality of weight gain in the last 5 years that wasn't there before! i guess 40 can do that to you!!??
I had my body fat measured today! That was fun. Appaerantly you can measure 33 and still be considered average? Is that my PERCENTAGE of body fat? Sounds like a lot to me!? :noway: The club did set a goal to reduce to 28. we will se where 12 weeks takes me. Should be a fun effort!
Don't want to go on to long and bore  this stimulating community.
I just wish all of you lots happiness on your journey and look forward to joining in with you all!

Average body fat is considered to be between 20-27 for women, usually coming in around 25%
Ideal body fat varies based on age

    is a good link
    33 is overweight, borderline healthy.
depending how it was taken changes accuracy,

has some great info on the accuracy of different methods

Congrats on starting your weight loss journey!

Yeah, 33 is a little high, not horrible though. A woman of 47, your goal should probably be somewhere between 23% and 26%. Female elite athletes usually have BF% between 15% and 20%, and anything below 12% for a woman is considered unhealthy.
