Eating after 7pm...

Is it generally ok to eat dinner after 7pm as long as you are within your calories intake for the day? I work late and do not workout until the evenings also... just wondering if I should stop eating in the late evening hours??

there is no scientific evidence that eating at night makes you gain weight any more or less
as long as you are within your allotted calories for the day, you should be fine.0 -
Yes. I have had people tell me not to eat at night. With that said, I started eating wihin 1/2 hr of exercising and it ended my plateau in addition to increasing my calories. I'm back to losing weight now and feel better. So on night I workout, I often eat after 7pm within my calories and I'm losing weight just fine.0

Eat whenever you want provided you are hitting your end of day nutritional targets and you are not having any personal or performance issues caused by your meal timing.
I eat until just minutes before bed. Some people actually eat IN bed, and I just think that's HOT.0 -
If you eat after 7pm you will turn into a Gremlin.

Like others have said there's no reason not to eat after 7pm or whatever time others have said. I eat if I'm hungry and still have calories left for the day even if it's midnight.
The only reason not to eat close to going to bed is that some people get heartburn, etc if they eat and than go to bed. If you don't get that than you're fine. A calorie is a calorie no matter what time of day.0 -
I have dinner typically at 8 o'clock every night. I've consistently lost weight. It's a myth. Just be under your allotted calories.0

There are some interesting and funny responses!
The reason why people say not to eat after 7pm is because this is when most of the mindless snacking (or grazing, as I like to call it) happens. If you are good about not snacking late. It's not a problem.
For me, I work best when I stop eating 2 hours before bed. My stomach has time to empty, but not enough time to get hungry, so I sleep better at night.0 -
I eat every night after 7pm, cereal w/milk, peanut butter, cottage cheese, etc. Still lose weight.
Meal timing is irrelevant. Total calorie intake is what matters.0
