Toe Stub Pain Delay?

Whenever I stub my toe, there is a split-second of nothing and then the pain hits. "Oh crap, this is going to hurt" flashes through my head.

I always thought everyone experienced this, just the time it took the electrical impulses to travel all the way up my body, but the other day when my 5'0 friend stubbed her toe, I said something about the pain delay and she said she had never experienced that, her pain is instantaneous.

I'm 5'9, so our natural conclusion was that it takes a tiny bit longer for me.

So....does this happen to you? I'm very curious now.

The taller you are the longer it takes for the pain signal to reach your brain because it has further to travel. This is why it takes a bit longer for you to feel the pain then your friend.

LOL I am short (under 5'4") and I get the pain delay too. I get that same moment of OMG this is REALLY going to hurt in a second!
