ok so I work out usually 6 days a week, strength and cardio, eat good, been consistently losing 2lbs/ week for the last month (since I started). I'm bracing myself for a plateau, but when should I expect it? SW: 174ish lbs CW: 166lbs GW: 125lbs
weight wise or time wise? thanks!

I started at 182, i plateued at 153, 150, and 148.5 for 2-3 weeks each. Im 5'6. I assume its different for everyone. If youre closer to your goal weight itll be harder to get it off.

It's unique to each person. I hit a platue about a month in, it lasted for a week. I upped my calories for a few days, then went back to eating my 1200cals and started losing again. It just depends on your body's reaction to your diet and exercise.

I'm in the midst of one now, I've lost 12.8kg (28lbs) and I've been creeping, 200grams or 1/2 a pound, off here and there for the last 4 weeks or so. I'm hoping that I'll start moving again as I've still got 7kg (15lbs) until my first goal weight.

I haven't hit a plateau yet. I think if you just keep a good variation going and try to make healthy food choices you should be fine. For example, I go over my calories often but I try to go over with fruits if its going to happen. I never starve myself just because I hit my calories limit. I also vary my work outs so for cardio I jog, sprint stairs, spinning, and a few sports if someone wants to join in. Strength training has been mostly either machines at the gym or weights at home. I do yoga sometimes too.

I think plateaus are mostly mental. I only stopped losing weight because I quit exercising regularly when I started working 8-5. As long as you're committed to the lifestyle and have a workout that you enjoy doing on a daily basis, it's nothing to worry about.

I completely disagree. I have gone through two plateaus and was able to increase calories to break one of them. I certainly couldn't will it away with Jedi mind tricks.

To the original poster, don't worry about plateauing. It might happen, it might not. It is like worrying every day about a car accident you could potentially be in one day. If it does happen, there are plenty of us on MFP who have been through it and lived to tell the tale who will be willing to help you through. It truly isn't the end of the world and if nothing else, it tests your will to succeed.

I agree with this. Just be aware it may happen, and if it does, you will survive. If it doesn't, even better!

I wouldn't consider it a plateau if it was only a week.
