Home exercise to work on the arms...?

The weight is coming off and I am starting to feel better about how I am looking although I still have a fair way to go.
I had a night out in a fancy dress the other night, and with the help of some clever underclothing I managed to pull off looking pretty slinky.
My arms let me down though and they couldn't be hidden with clever posture and clothes in the photographs.
I am running 3 times a week (started the C25K and now running about 20k a week but building it up run by run) and I am shredding on my none run days. I do a dance class once a week too.
Is there a good DVD or regime on youtube that would be a good arm toner? I'm not in a position to be able to get to the gym for various reasons yet although I hope that will change once my little one starts school, so I need to be doing it in the front room rather than at a class/gym.
TIA!

Bump...anyone?0

Push-ups. There are many different variations that will work on different parts of the arms. But they are definitely the best over-all option (plus you get the additional ab work too). Dips are good too, you can do these on a chair.0
-
You can always fill up gallon milk jugs with water and use those as weights...they even come with a handle0
-
Tricept dips are really good for the arms and can easily be done at home. You can also use hand weights (or cans of soup) for curls.0
-
Possibly not what you are looking for, but I choose not to go the gym on the basis of feeling self-conscious, so I am using this.

It does certainly push me and there are exercises in there for the arms, but as I said, not sure if it would be useful, but thought I would chip in.0 -
Skipping rope is a great way to tone the arms and get in some amazing cardio as well.0

Push-ups.
Also, get some cheap resistance bands if you can't afford anything else - you can always tie them to a door handle if nothing else - and use them for other arm exercises.0 -
Push ups. They are a magical exercise. The work your arms, chest, back, abs, and even your legs and glutes a little. They do WONDERS. Do like 10 during commercial breaks while you're watching TV (knee pushups are fine until you build up enough strength to do full push ups). You'll definitely notice a difference!0

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred is pretty good. You can get this on your computer on Amazon Instant for under $10. I do it with 5 pound weights and can definitely feel it in my arms, well everywhere else too. I also really like the videos by The Firm including "The Ultimate Fat Burning Workout." Lots of arms exercises, but not arms exclusively. Also, Jamie Eason has a bunch of really good weights routines in her 12 week plan (never done the whole plan). Some of her exercises require gym and others could be done just at home with weights: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-eason-livefit-trainer.html. If you go with her exercises, then you could focus just on arms! Hope that helps! Those are just some things I do-- don't do any one program exclusively, but mix it up, and have seen more definition in my arms the past two months.0

Definitely do push ups. You could also try doing chair lifts(sit on floor with arms behind you using palms of hand push yourself up to ninety degree angle, then push up to straighten your arms and repeat but don't go back to the floor). You could also do tricep excercises with anything that you have that is heavy..doesn't have to be weights (milk jug, canned food) place behind head/neck with elbows next to ears and exctend. Use the same sinple home objects to do bicep curls and front rows. Hopefully I explained these to where you can understand what they are. Hope this helps and good luck!!!!!0

Push-ups and dips!!!0

Tricep dips are great for arms.. and pushups are great for arms + chest!0

Pushups are a great full-body exercise! Some cardio exercises also work on conditioning your arms... swimming is a good one(note: conditioning is not same as building strength)
Some suggestions here also http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/486868-what-types-of-strength-training-can-i-do-at-home0 -
There are lots of different toning exercises you can do to work the entire upper body with the exercise bands. I bought a 3-pk (different resistance) at walmart and they work great.0
-
Try some yoga! Downward-facing-dog is totally reshaping my shoulders and arms.0
-
Nobody ever mentions how great yoga can be for the arms. My arms are strong and cut from plank, to up dog, to down dog and other poses like side planks, etc. When you are doing a flow that has all of those movements, you really tone your muscles. You can also work up a pretty good sweat. Not to mention all the other benefits of yoga. Yoga is great to do at home.0

Fantastic, hadn't even thought about dips. I've been doing some pressups as part of 30DS. I'll definately up those, the suggestion of doing them during ad breaks is a great one.
I'll look up resistance bands, I have seen those in the shops I think but not quite sure how they work. I have a really bad allergy to latex though which might scupper that one, i shall check what they are made from.
Skipping! Not done that since I was a kid. I was considering hula hooping for my tummy so I could have a retro workout!! Great idea, thanks.
And curls whilst I wait for the microwave and stuff.
I'll bear that book in mind. Looks really hard core!!!
I have no imagination to come up with this by myself, thanks so much!!!
(Sorry I couldn't quote/thank everyone, loads of responses popped up really quick after my bump. Thanks you.)0 -

I have a pull-up bar that can be put in a doorway (and easily removed and stowed if you don't want that constant "gym" look in your living space). I also have a pair of rings that I can slip through there where I can do some other things such as suspended push-ups, lat-pulls, etc... with more of a TRX kind of feel.
Obviously plain 'ole pushups would work just as well also. But I always hate doing those for some reason... :grumble:0 -
It is hard to isolate a body part for weight loss....that just don't happen. You can do exercises to strengthen arms but visible results will take a while (usually more prominent as fat % drops). Not putting a downer on it at all. A fit healthy body takes a long time and it is well worth pursuing.
Best arm exercises are push ups and pull ups. Simple, ugly but fantastic. (They also work other area of your body so that is a bonus right?)
Push ups. If not strong start on wall pushups, gradually decreasing your angle, then to pushups from knees or "girl" pushups (I hate that term) and then finally to pushups from toes.
Pull ups. Don't be scared. Door way pull up bars are cheap and well worth it. Start off with a lying pull up. Feet under your table and pulling yourself up on the edge. When moving to the bar use a chair to assist you. Try doing the just downward motion, controlled. (there are plenty of websites on how to do various assisted pull ups )
Don't let he hard exercises frighten you. They are hard because they work.
Good luck0 -

Oh, I get that what will cure my arms is getting rid of the weight, but it does no harm to help tone what is under there does it? And then I can have a "ta-da" moment when a pair of sinewy madonna arms appear.... (In all seriousness, I'm not wasting my time trying am I??)
It is a long time since I have done a pull up. Back in the day I was pretty good at pull ups. I used to do judo and go to the mens gym, I just had to get one of the blokes to lift me up to the bar because I was too short to reach. I was 16 then though. I'm more than that these days  But now I hang out at the kids park most days... I can sneakily try and do it again down there. Thanks for the building up tips though, never heard of a laying down one.
I'll look up kettlebells, Ive heard of those but never seen one.
The skinnym link looks fab, I have bookmarked it, thanks.0
