Here is my problem. The scale at the gym says I actually gained 1lbs this week but my measurements say I lost 3.5 inches this week. The scale at the gym says I have lost 17lbs so far.
Now when I weighed myself at home the scale says I have lost almost 30lbs.
A little about myself
Starting weight
Home - 310 lbs
Current Weight.
Home 283 lbs
Gym 297.8lbs
Starting Measurements
Neck - 17.5
Waist- 49.0
Hips - 51.5
Stomach 55.0
Chest 50.5
Current Measurements
Neck - 17.0
Waist- 46.0
Hips - 50.0
Stomach 49.5
Chest 47.5
So with all the inches I have lost I am thinking that the industrial digital scale at the gym might need to be calobrated because I am more incline to believe that with those inches I have lost 27 lbs not 17 lbs.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Chris

Try a third scale . . . and become completely confused.0

Pick one scale and go by it, as often as you can, verify against your Dr's office on a regular visit anyway so you know your "Variation" or... grab a 10lb weight and step on your scale, if the difference is 10lbs you may be calibrated fine.. .if its anyhting BUT 10lbs your scale is off a bit so try adjusting it or replacing it.0

Focus less on the numbers and more on just sticking with one scale that works and use whatever number as a tool to track progress.
Who cares what you really weigh?
What matters is that the scale and weigh in be consistent enough to track progress.
Weigh yourself at home in the morning before breakfast and after a good pooh....
Results are all that matter - not the number.
But for bragging purposes, always go with the lower number - silly!0 -
There's really no way of telling which one is right and which one is wrong. I'd really go with the gym one, personally, but who knows. The number on the scale really isn't all that important anyway if you're losing inches and body fat percentage. Get a body composition test done to see what your body fat % is and you'll have a WAY better indicator of what your progress is. For example, I saw someone post on here yesterday that they were a female, my height, weighed about 20 lbs less than I do, but had the same body fat percentage as I do. It's quite possible to lose inches and be packing on that lean muscle (ESPECIALLY for a man) and not losing weight.
My boyfriend actually gains weight whenever he works out for any extended period of time...his pants are looser, but he weighs more. All muscle!0 -

Lol I was just going to send you a private message about this. I like your thinking. I am going to change my weigh in to the scale at home. Even tho it will look like I dropped like 10 lbs this week...
Thanks0 -
You guys are right, I am the first to tell you I hate scale numbers but thought WTH with gaining weight. I mean at 300 lbs any workout and eating at a deficit should result in bigger scale numbers.
I will stop obsessing over the scale numbers and go with measurements.
Thanks Guys and Gals0 -
