Logging calories burned

When I work out at the gym all the cardio machines have a calorie burned readout (I enter my weight but not my age before I start). The question is do I log the read out on the machine or the calculations from MFP when logging the exercise. Sometimes it can be upwards of 200 calories different (MFPO is always higher number of calories burned) Does the age make a difference

I could be wrong but I think entering your age allows the computer to determine an approximate heart rate for the user. Staying within the correct heart rate range would allow you to burn calories at your most effective levels. Just by judging the calories burned when I log my bike rides, I would say that MFP calculates a bit high. I would go with the cardio machine read out.0

When in doubt go low on calories burned and go high on calories eaten. Most people over estimate exercise and underestimate food intake.0
