Any slow release energy foods will give you a great start!
    EITHER:
60g bowl of porridge with raisins or something similar in it (I run honey through mine) with a piece of wholewheat toast, a glass of juice or even better a piece of fruit. Make sure you drink a glass of water to help you keep full and break the dehydration you suffer overnight.
I tend to have big breakfasts like that about 2 hours before I hit the gym, just to avoid cramps etc.
If you're not a porridge fan, try beans on toast (wholewheat toast x2 half tin of beans) and a piece of fruit and lots of water.
Also a snack like a banana before going to the gym will give you a good burst of energy!
  • great ideas. I think I will mix up one of those combinations

Cook up a portion of steel-cut oats combined with some spelt, flax, and kamut. Combine that in a bowl with 1/4 cup blueberries, a tablespoon of almond butter, a tablespoon of 0% plain Greek yogurt, a tbsp of wheat germ, and a tbsp of hemp seeds and about 1/2 cup of soy milk.

That has been my daily breakfast for a couple months, and it's one of the few combination of grains and fruits that keeps me going and feeling full until noon or even later.
