Cookies, Cheetos, and Children... Oh my!

So, I am a nanny and I work five days a week. I eat most of my meals with two small children. The family I work for is so gracious and they always provide lunch and, often times, dinner for me. Sometimes I have a choice in what I'm eating, but others I just eat whatever the are offering to me. There is always junk food or something delicious waiting to be eaten. This has ended up causing some problems for me in the kind of foods I'm choosing to eat... I'm not sure how to make the right choices all the time when I'm at work... so, any suggestions?
And... I know I could start bringing my own food, but this is also strange for me. I have worked for them for almost two years, and I don't want to offend anyone by starting to show up with my own food/refusing a dinner they have prepared. Maybe I should start bringing some healthy snacks? I just feel like I am being swallowed up by cookies and cheetos... I know this starts with me, and I need to really work on my self control. I would just love some thoughts or advice on what you would do if you were in my situation.

Just tell them what your goals are and ask how they would prefer to handle it. Either they can provide some veggies or smaller portions or whatever you are requesting, or you can bring your own. Just make sure you express your gratitude for their cooking, employment, etc. Chances are, they will understand and respect you for it.0
