fitness assessment????

Today I did a fitness assessment with my trainer. I had to see how fast I could do 1km on the bike in the gym. Not sure about my time, around two minutes, but he told me it came out at 25 (?) and 25-30 is "great" fitness. Can anyone explain this scale or tell me what it is called. I am pretty sure my fitness is not great and I was hoping to find out more so I have a better understanding of what it all means.

    Erm a 1 Km dash on a spin bike is not really and indication of fitness there are many ways of determining it .
    recovery heart rate the time it takes to recover to resting pulse is a widley accepted method od determining fitness.
