Runing and calf cramps

I have been on my journey since June of 2011. SW 295, I am now at 219. When I try to run on the treadmill my calf's tighten up and I have to slow down to a walk to ease the cramps. This happens within two minutes of running. I feel fine and know I can continue to run longer but the calf's stop me. Any suggestions on what I can do to ease the cramps or something before hand to help not having the cramps?

  • This what I figure the issue is, and I researched it to back it up.

"To prevent muscle cramps, McCall also tells runners to get enough fluid before exercising. He advises drinking 16 to 20 ounces 45 minutes before training and two to four ounces every 15 minutes during a training session, plus eating a healthy diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables"

"When a muscle cramp strikes, McCall tells runners to stop exercising, rest, and hydrate -- preferably with a sports drink that can restore their electrolyte balance."
