Who inspires you?

I've always loved food. I came from a household of food lovers. I remember being a little kid and watching cooking shows with my dad. Even when I go home for Christmas, somehow my dad, brother and myself will end up watching something with food.

It's only the past few years that I seem to remember how large my dad was when I was a kid. He was over 300 pounds (and he was a smoker!) I guess as a kid your daddy will look big regardless of how large he really is. My dad is now tiny and doesn't smoke. He just stopped eating badly and dropped smoking cold turkey. That was over 12 years ago.

Sometimes it breaks my heart because he made it look so easy. I wish I was as strong as him.

I look, act and have gained weight just like my dad. My dad didn't change til he went to the doctor and found out he had high cholesterol. I don't want to wait til last minute like my dad. I don't want the doctor to tell me I'm killing myself.

Now as an adult I can truly appreciate what my dad did. For himself.

I asked my mom not long ago, "Why doesn't dad voice his feelings about some of the dumb choices and things I have done?"

"Because you have to be the one to want to change, your life is yours."

My dad has inspired me without even knowing it. Maybe some day I'll tell him. But we're both quiet people who don't say much. lol

:)

Good question. I guess I do not have a family story to tell about this topic, as much as this time I am doing it for me. I have always been active but as I keep getting bigger and bigger, my energy has gone down- or maybe I just let myself think that. The first tell for me was when my daughter got her ski gear out. I wanted to go, but I have lost so much of my balance now do to my size - it would be dangerous. You do not see many very large skiers out there. Plus, It has become harder for me to ride my horse. I use to be able to pull myself up into the saddle from the ground. Now I have to use the steps my hubby made. And, again , I have lost a lot of balance, so it is not as easy for me . Now I just clean his stall and pet him. I think I rode him a grand total of 3 times last year. My bicycle has set for years, as has many other things we use to do. Due to the fuel situation- I got my motorcycle license last year, along with a bike and NEVER rode it once. Sounds bizzar, I know. So- now I am here. Getting inspiration from my friends here daily, feeling better, and moving more. Long winded way to say my inspiration comes from the people on here, eh? =)
