Hi Everyone. I just joined My Fitness Pal yesterday (actually joined a while ago, but just started using it). A little about me: I am a stay at home Mom of 4 and a full time college student. I have been trying to lose the last 40-50 pounds of baby weight since my daughter was born 8 years ago, but now I am 100% committed to losing the weight. I am working with my OB/GYN to lose the weight and I go in once a month for a full BMI profile. Yesterday she put me on the B-12 shot, Phentermine, and Capsiat Natura. She also put me on a 1200 calorie diet, but I have trouble hitting that number without even adding exercise calories. I guess I just don't eat enough.

My biggest problem is that after a workout (normally Jillian' Michael s) my legs get so sore that I can't get up and down from a chair without pain. Then I put off working out for a day or two until I can move normally and I end up only working out 2 or 3 times a week. So, anyone that has tips or has the same issues, please let me know.

I am looking for a group that will help keep me motivated to work out even when I can't move. Thanks and I look forward to meeting more people who are trying to lose weight.

Lisa

Hi! I just joined Fitness Pal yesterday as well....its taking a little gettin used to and it feel like a full time job adding in all the foods and workouts! But Ive already noticed some things I can change. Anyways I am 27, mother of 2. I also hae been trying to lose the extra 20-25 pounds of extra fat Ive been carrying around for 7 years now. My husband and I finally decided to make a change and started the INSANITY program 6 weeks ago. Hes gotten awesome results, like lost 12 pounds and looks great! Ive lost 7 but have been at a standpoint for like 2 and a half weeks now! Very frustrating! I dont know if you know how intense INSANITY is but its crazy, ive been working my butt off! So I heard around that this was a good site and joined to see if maybe I can do something esle with my diet to help. Weve also been on a strict eating routine for this 6 weeks to but I just cant seem to lose any more...so hopefully this site will help.

About your soreness, I am sore EVERYDAY as well. Ive been doing it for 6 weeks and still every single day I am sore in a new place. Thats just how it is when your working out vigorously. Im not sure how your workout is but you just have to keep pushing through. You muscles will actually feel better half way through the workout. They are only sore when they arent warmed up, once they get warmed up during the exercise the pain wil go away. But you have to keep pushing through or else every 3 days you work out it will still be the same thing, sore everyday. Its kind of like a threshold you have to get over. Im not a professional whatsoever so this is obviously just me talking. This is what I do. And of course only if you have no medical conditions...its only your bodys way of fighting back because youve been outta shape for so long (like me).

But trust me I am in your shoes! It is very hard to get motivated and get back into shape after being a mama and getting into the lazy "chicken nugget" mode. Its been a rough journey so far and Im not even half way to my goal weight! Im 5'7" and started at 175 lbs, now Im at 168...been here for while. But you cant get discouraged, it will come. Stay positive! And recheck your diet also. My first month of working out, again its a crazy hard workout where you burn like 5 to 6 hundred calories each time, but I was taking in about 1600 calories, now in month 2 I am needing more like 1900. If your body is not fueled properly for the workout, and not just crap calories but lots of green and protein, then you will get sore and it will be very hard to recover. Speaking of recovery, I drink a recovery formula after I workout, its very important for your muscles to HEAL after a workout. You need to give yourself good carbs and protien after to sooth the muscles. Ive done a lot of research on it and Carnation Instant Breakfast is a great way to do it. Its got the same ratios as all those expensivbe protien powders and works great! You can even get the low fat or sugar kind to skimp on calories to. Lots of trained olympic athletes use it between runs and stuff, its good stuff =)

A few other tricks to help you lose weight is drinkning ICE COLD water, Ive been reading about it and your bisy burns like 50 extra calories everyday just from "warming up" ice cold water after you drink it....crazy huh, it was on Dr. Oz's show. Also Dr Oz says you need to have a protien shake within an hour of waking up...I drink Gold Standard 100% Whey...its cheap at GNC and easy, taste good to. I noticed I was drinking it every moring with my Oatmeal and since Ive stopped in the last 2 weeks Ive just been at a standpoint. And if your working out 6 days a week like me it helps so much!

Sorry for such a long note =) Guess i got a lilttle passionate about your situation and wanted to share my knowledge that Ive gained over the past few weeks. Really if you start googling things you really can learn a lot. But #1, get a recovery drink! This is why your so sore everyday! Try it an I promise you will be so much more motivated to keep going! Hope this helps =)

Thanks for the great tips. I am currently using Isagenix products for meal replacements and recovery protein. I love it. Other then the working out, I am also noticing that I just can't hit my 1200 calorie mark if I have to eat my exercise calories. I am just never hungry until 7 or 8 at night so I am having to force myself to eat throughout the day. I am hoping that once my body gets used to working out regularly and getting the meals every 3 hours or so, that the weight will just start falling off.

I am a little opposite. With all 4 of my kids in school now, I can get my workouts in in the mornings before I start on my school work for the day (yes, went back to college...yikes). My problem is that when I wake up in the mornings I just don't have the energy to work out and by 10 when I get the energy I am so busy with school that I forget to work out. Or I am just too freaking sore from the day before.
