ladies :) your thoughts on gaining muscle while reducing fat

I am not sure. I am following the Jamie Eason 12-week trainer and it's done in three 4-week phases and the first phase is no cardio for the specific reason of building a base of muscle to then maintain and reveal in the later phases, where cardio sprints and carb-cycling is added. But I know fitness competitors who teach Zumba and they are forced to do a ton of cardio while trying to build muscle, it seems. I think for those trying to do both you should alternate days of strength training, where you eat at maintenance and then on cardio days, eat at a deficit.0
