Low BMR?

Hello all!
So I calculated my BMR and apparently it's 1278. Right now my calorie limit for each day is 1200. Does this mean that I'm only burning 78 calories of fat a day without exercise!? I thought MFP automatically has a deficit of 500 calories? At this rate (unless I start incorporating exercise, I suppose), I'll only lose a pound every month and a half... Does this sound right? I'm eating the bare minimum calorie limit. It just doesn't sound right to me but that's what the math is saying...

Your BMR is what you burn in a coma basically, you need to calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and take your deficit from that, not your BMR. There are calculations on the internet to help you do that. For example, I am classed as sedentary, so I take my BMR and multiply it by 1.2 to give me my total daily energy expenditure and take my deficit from that. For example:
My BMR is: 1858
My TDEE is: 1858 (BMR) x 1.2 (because I'm sedentary) = 2229.6 or 2230 rounded up.
To lose a lb a week, I take 2230 - 500 each day, which gives me 1730.
