Hill Running

I have been searching the web to try to find out how many calories I have burned running uphill for 30 mins but to no avail! Has anyone got any ideas? All the sites I find just say 'running uphill burns far more calories than on the flat'.... yes but HOW MANY?! Any help would be much appreciated

The slope of the hill changes your calorie burn. It depends on your speed and effort too. An average runner burns about 100 calories per mile, add in hills and you're still only up to about 120-130 calories per mile. I'm guessing you didn't use a HRM, but that is the most accurate way to tell for yourself. So I would guess at most 350 calories running uphill for 30 minutes...but it's really just a guess unless you had a HRM.0

Thanks! You are right - I need to get a HRM. Only way to know for sure.0
