Hello

I have a question relating to sugar. I seem to be going over my sugar count every day, My allowance is 24g per day.

If I eat and apple and a banana and nothing else I seem to be going over. I am allowed 1200 calories per day in my diet
I am 5foot4 and weight 191.6 lb this morning. I am loosing weight by about 2lb per week but this for me is a change of life not just a weight lose exercise. I do cycle 3 times a week too and was expecting to loose more than I am

any advice would be greatly received.

Regards

Chris

Good luck on your muscle loss goals of 2012

But more seriously, eat more, get in adequate protein (around 1g of pro per lb of lbm) and fats (.45g per lb of bw) and fill in the rest of your cals however you like. Don't overly worry about sugar, if you're getting most of your cals through whole, micronutrient dense foods and hitting your macros

2lb a week is a good amount to loose per week. thats a healthy rate and is sustainable so keep doing what you are doing! .
I do wish I could separate fruit sugars and processed sugars in my diary but I wouldn't worry too much about sugar from fruit just watch for other sugars as it can be detrimental! or you could try and replace one of the fruit items with a portion of vege - carrots, mange tout, frozen corn ( strange but crunchy and different)
good luck and keep the weight going down

lots of people say the slower it comes off the easier it is to keep off! which is mostly true so well done on your 2lb a week its a fantastic achievement
  • You really don't want to lose more then 2lbs a week if you intend to keep this off. Fast waight off, usually leads to fast waight back on. You didn't put it on that fast, your not going to lose it that fast. Keep up the good work.

if you want to reduce sugar, eliminate the fruit.

up your good EFAs and your proteins. Your complete proteins will provide you with more than enough glucose for your body, who needs sugars?

I also go over my sugar limit every day since a big glass of fresh orangejuice is already too much. Yeah well. Too bad. I don't eat any added sugars and I think 30 grams out of fruit is a lot healthier than 30 gr of sugar from candybars.

If you are diabetic, how is your sugar control? If your sugar is well controlled, I wouldn't worry about the fruit. You are also getting good fiber there, which helps with your total carbs.
