Can someone please look at my food diary today and tell me what Im doing wrong. I ate healthly (I think) but my nutritional info is in the negatives for my fat and protein and I haven't even finished my day. Please help! Also, I am going the the gym in about a half hour so that will give me some calories as well. Any suggestions on what I should eat?

  • You're doing fine. The goals that MPF sets for fat and protein are on the low side and should be considered minimums.

If you prefer to eat lower carb like today you can customize your percentages to match your preferences.
  • Looks like you are doing great. Wouldnt be worried about the fat as you are getting healthy fats in there. That good almond fat, my favorite. Also as the previous poster saifd, MFP shoots really low on the protein amount. Great job.

With all due respect, I don't think they are minimums except for fiber.

I wouldn't worry about the protein, I would actually intake even more, especially if you work out. I take in about 200g of protein a day, 114g over y MFP recommendation. Rule of thumb when it comes to protein is to take in 1g per pound of body weight. As for your fats, you could lower it with cutting out the egg yolks, but I think you're fine on fats too. MFP macro nutrients are just guidelines, nothing you have to follow exactly.

And why is that? People require different ratios. High carbs and low protein is not what I need

I am not sure your fat count on 3 eggs is correct. 22 g? That seems very high to me.

Im not sure either. I just type it in and it gives me the calories and nutrition for the item I select. Am I doing that wrong?
  • you're getting a lot of fat from animal products - what about increasing your fruit and veg intake?

I feel like if I do that then I will have a hard time eating all the calories that I need.

An egg has 4.5 grams of fat I believe. So yeah that entry is wrong. I do lower carb. My calorie goal is similar to yours, but my carb, fat and protein are set differently. You might want to look into that.

Yeah, that is totally right because she had the yolks. Not the worst kind of fat, but three eggs ...yeah, totally

Next time if you want to cut the fat, do 1 whole egg and 3 egg whites...or not, whatever

Keep in mind too that the one gram of protein is per pound of LEAN body mass not your total weight so you need to take your BMI into consideration and that percent comes off the top for body weight in the protein calculation.

Oh man, so soo sorry. The fat in almonds and nuts are good fats so, I tend to think they would cancel the 8g of fat that you were over. It's def. not a big deal to be over in protein.. and everything else looks great (except I didn't see any water.. just keep hydrated).
I know I'm a very large woman.. but I'm old too.. I've done the weight loss thing twice before (both times over 100 pounds). I've learned quite a bit, and this time.. I am NEVER going to stop logging my food!

The main thing I see might be wrong with your diet is that you don't seem to be eating enough. 1000 calories?

I customize my goals because I try to go heavy on protein, lighter on carbs. In my opinion, the more protein the better. If your interested & frend me we can talk about it in greater detail. I just took a look at your food diary for today & you were a bit heavy on the fat. If you wanted to lighten that up, I would suggest light margarine instead of butter, egg whites instead of whole eggs & light mayo instead of real mayo. Easy fixes.

That equation is incorrect, it doesn't take in to consideration bodyfat percentage.

    Damn you pii!!
