I was going to write this in someone's post just now, but once I started typing my fingers just wouldn't stop. So please, if you feel weak or feel that you can't find the courage to lose weight and get to your goals, then please listen to my story.
I had a food addiction. I would eat when I was bored. I wouldn't be able to stop myself and would yield to even the THOUGHT of eating.
To overcome this I had to wake myself up. So I made a mock entry on MFP. It was one of the worst days I could recall, and I logged all the food I did for the day. It amounted to 1 pizza hut pizza, 1 cadbury chocolate block and almost 3 litres of coke - i tallied just over 5000 calories for the ONE DAY.
This woke me up because my problem was I was unaware of what I was doing to my body. Sure, I knew it was WRONG to eat those foods... but I didn't know it was 5000-CALORIES WRONG.
From this point, your reality SHOULD shatter. This is the waking point. Pick up those pieces and build a new reality. One that is healthy. That makes sense to you. A reality that will help you consistently lose weight.
I took from my experience that whenever you seek betterment of the self, you must adhere to these three steps:
1) Know WHAT you want. - It's easy to say "I want to lose weight". But how much. When do you want to lose it by. What are you willing to sacrifice to get there.
2) Know HOW to get it. - Again, it's easy to say 'i just have to run and eat right'. But using MFP will teach you how much calories is in a sandwich, what your Base Metabolic Rate (BMR) is and how much calories you need to lose weight HEALTHILY. Educate yourself on HOW to exercise - don't just run one day for 20 km's and then never again. Do the 1km a day for the rest of your life, it will amount to more and become your lifestyle!
3) Know how to KEEP GETTING what it is you're trying to get. - Once you've planned out what you want and how to get it, you need to be able to CONTINUE getting it in the face of adversity. Don't let anything hold you back. Ignore that naysayers. Keep your image in your mind. Seek inspiration from EVERYWHERE. Don't give up.

These words are inspirational.
Lastly, when you feel you are at your weakest and at the most vulnerable to fall from your new path, remember these words:
"Don't let a moment of weakness turn into a moment of regret". You ALWAYS have the power to keep going. Remember that YOU control the food you eat, the FOOD YOU EAT does NOT control you.
