How Did You Gain Your Weight??

The Depo Prevera injection caused my hormones to be out of whack. As a result I ate. I ate a lot and very bad. I seriously gained like 80 pounds in the course of a year. My choices following were not good either. I had liked to drink a lot and chose fast food over cooking any day. Mostly bad choices and lack of exercise had gotten me to where I am at now. Lack of education kept me there for so long, but now I am here trying to do something about it.0

The dreaded Freshman 15! I played field hockey and was very active, but that just wasn't enough to counteract the cafe food, alcohol, weed munchies, and stress from exams. I've never been "overweight," but that was when I hit my highest (135 lbs), and boy, did it show!!0

I ate poorly and didn't exercise.
^This and add some depression too the menu. :frown:0 -
played pro soccer, was in a car crash, smashed legs and ankles, soccer days over, as were pretty much all my sporting days, played a lot of tennis too, That was 13 years ago. ate the same as before without being able to exercise, kept eating, didnt exercise enough when i got better, it spiraled out of control, now i have reached a point in my life where i need to sort it out, because its getting out of control0

Six pregnancies (two sets of twins) started me down the road. I spent time on bedrest, got lazy, told myself I was too busy to work out, got used to eating whatever I wanted. It was a vicious circle. Ten years ago I was the same weight I am now but toned and taut. Now, not so much. I don't really care about the weight... I just want my muscle tone back. I have lots of work to do.0

I got laid off from my job (i worked in a VERY BUSY tanning salon) Never sat down.
I became a stay at home mom and got lazy and did not eat right.0 -
My son and I were in a real bad car accident in 2007 and I became permanently disabled at age 37 from a good high paying career. I felt sorry for myself and didn't do the things I could do , like eat right and some upper body strength training and I put on 70 lbs of fat. In early 2011 after getting diabetes and having a moderate stroke I decided to make a change for my sake and my responsibility of a single dad's sake. I lost all of the weight and am in better shape in my forties than in my thirties.0

Whenever I get a question like this all I can think is:
"Because I consumed more calories than my body requires."
No real reason, I just like food.0 -
2 words. New Orleans. I lived there for 2 years and put on 40 pounds. You try being skinny and living there!0

I gained of course during pregnancy but also became used to not exercising. Then I got a leg injury which stuck me in a chair for about two months of which my roommate "took care" of me by bringing me McDonalds for almost every meal. It wasn't his fault, though, by any means. I felt sorry for myself and didn't care until I realized one day that even once I was able to walk again, I was worn out just walking to the bathroom.0

I ate poorly and didn't exercise.
This^^ + I'm lazy and I make tons of excuses to feel sorry for myself + anxiety and depression (which by the way, are getting under better control with healthy eating and exercises).0 -
Well.... i was always chubby as a kid but lost it all in my late teens, then between 20 and 29 i had three beautiful daughters (who i wouldn't change for the world) but they kinda left their mark on me and the chub returned! When my youngest was born 19 months ago I weighed 17st 11lb and since then I have passed my driving test and now i weigh 14st 13lb so its coming off slowly but surely!! Kids eh.... lol :laugh:0

I started eating bigger portions and giving into the cheesecakes and such my boyfriend was so fond of. Then I got a job at McDonalds, which I hated, and I ended up taking the free meal I got every shift. I also started drinking heavily, stuffing my face with pork scratchings and crisps, and considering bacon to be a valid food group.
Then I got fired from McDonalds (I kid you not, for "not smiling genuinely enough"), and started drinking even more because, let's face it, getting fired from McDonalds of all places knocks your confidence. So I just kind of sat and stagnated and got fatter and fatter. Eventually, my family gave me a much-needed lecture on how lardy I was (I was 216lbs), and after a lot of "I'll start my diet Monday", I got on with it.0 -
I gained weight over the yrs since 1995 after going off to college...but I gained the bulk of my weight entering in the 200's when my mom died in August 2006...very depressing and sad time for me..I got in a relationship not long after that and eating fast food was our thing....once that went wrong after 3yrs I continued the bad habits....it wasnt until end of 2010 and New Love...I decided myself to change...0

To all of the women that gained too much during pregnancy...
I gained exactly the right amount my doc recommended for my size at the time 35-40lbs.
I nursed. I worked out through my whole pregnancy. Yoga, walking, elliptical and swimming.
And after I had the baby I still had nearly all of it to lose.
We all ended up in the same boat! Or on the same site.0 -
All the kids left home, was lucky enough to still be a stay at home wife, got looked after, got wined and dined, got lazy i guess as well as comfortable and so contented....ate well, drank well...got bigger :laugh:0
