Hi all I really need advice on how to proceed . On Monday I decided to do a body sculpt class at the gym . Really enjoyed the class and felt great after it . I usually do 3-4 days a week in the gym mix of cardio and weights and found the class really enjoyable . Now here is the issue I woke up Tuesday morning in bits . I mean really bad pain mostly in my thighs and I am putting this down to not being used to doing lunges and squats with 15 kgs on my back at the same time . It was so bad I needed anti inflamatry meds just to get through yesterday and not being graphic but just trying to sit on the loo was excruciating . I am a bit better today but still have a lot of pain in the legs .
The question is today do I go to the gym and do a light upper body workout and a swim or do I rest another day and do very little . I don't think I could run or even cycle but could manage some upper body work . I am worried about doing more damage and I know light stretching can help things which I have been doing . Any advice appreciated .

Light cardio is good for recovery since it gets the blood flowing and helps nutrients get to the muscles to be repaired.0

Also, drink lots of water. It helps with getting the soreness out. My trainers tell me unless I am injured, it is best to workout with the soreness to help it go away faster.0

Is the pain muscular? Are you sure? I've worked with many people and have done many physically difficult workouts...everyone gets sore at first, but I am a bit concerned that you say it's excrutiating. You say the anti inflammatories didn't help?
My best advice if you truly think this is just from over doing it would be to lightly stretch, maybe some easy yoga. Plenty of water. Check your nutrition because it can greatly affect how sore you are. If you have a foam roller use it! The best invention ever!
If you think this is something more serious see a doctor and don't workout!

Thanks all for the replys . Feeling a bit better this evening did some light upper body work and just stretches on the legs . The legs are still very sore so I am giving them another day to rest . I am down to paracetamol today so there is improvement . Really think I just did way too much too soon and will do the class next week with lower weights . Working tomorrow and my job is physical so needed to rest today and not push it too hard .0
