Looking to lose another 30lbs+... when to tone?

Right, so far I have lost 24lbs to put me at an even 200. I'm 5ft6 so looking to be between 160 and 170 to still be quite curvy.

I was wondering when it the best time to start toning? Should I wait to lose some more weight or is it never to early? My main concerns are my arms, tummy and bum. I don't want to be left with loads of skin although I suspect there might be some - hoping being 22 might be youthful spring miracles on my side...

Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Today.

In all seriousness you don't 'tone' you strip fat which shows your muscles off better. The best way to do this is through lifting heavy weights. You won't bulk, you won't get muscly. You'll get a much better body.
  • You should be doing strength training now (and should have been from the start). Is that what you're talking about? When to start lifting weights? Any good exercise program will contain both from Day 1. Strength training will help you lose the weight even faster than cardio alone.

Start now - see these links for "why" :)

I have much better results in fat lose, and overall look" and body changes with a combo or cardio and lifting heavy.

Losing weight, makes you smaller, but you still look mostly the same - but when you add in lifting you actually make visible changes to the way your body looks in tightness, leaness, no jiggles. It can also speed overall fat lose progress.

Lift heavy weights (for you) low reps for best, fastest results.
    Eat enough protein.

    Now.

People of any size and shape can lift weights... Start doing some research on how to do it and get at it!

I agree now. At around 200 lbs is when I started and it has really improved the shape of my body and is helping everything be alot less jiggly. You will feel so much better and more confident.
