Hi everyone! So i'm 5'3", 155lbs, looking to lose 25 lbs. I tried P90x before, but felt that it just built muscle around my fat, but didn't raelly burn my fat. Does anybody have any experience with this? I'm tempted to try it again....also, I've just joined and don't have many connections on MFP, please feel free to add me!

I did P90X from September to December of 2011. I lost 21 pounds and 4 inches in my waist during that time. I also gained a good amount of strength. I really like program and am planning to do another round in a couple months. I'm doing Insanity right now and have a little more than two weeks left.
Here is a post with my results:

Ive lost 44lbs on P90x only. The key to this program is really your nutrition. Youve probably heard this before but its 80% nutrition and 20% the workouts. Trust me, the program works, just watch what you eat and your body will literally melt. If you need help, feel free to ask. Also, Im currently a part of a private facebook group called the Misfit Challenge, we constantly welcome new members who are wanting to try programs like P90X. If its something you might be interested in, let me know. ;-)0

hi misfit, this definitely interests me...but i struggle to follow any diet plans. I'm vegetarian and my menu is south asian. i find menu plans, like the one P90x suggested, to be unrealistic for my lifestyle. what are your thoughts on this?
that's why i like MFP. I can continue eating indian food, and the database captures it.0 -
I didn't follow the P90X nutrition plan. I used MFP to track my calories and logged my P90X exercise using a heart rate monitor so I'd know how much to eat. I adjusted my macros on MFP to sort of coincide with the suggested macros in the P90X plan.0

For what it's worth, everyone I know or have heard of that has stayed on the plan and stuck to the dietary and exercise mandates has seen impressive results. THAT SAID, almost every normal human being I know has fallen off the program (in fact, two people I know didn't last a week!). I haven't done it, so I can't speak to its difficulty from first-hand experience, but maybe some of you who have had good results, can you describe how hard it was to start and initially stay with the plan? I think I'd discourage people who aren't accustomed to the rigors of that sort of a weight-loss/fitness program from starting with something as intense as P90X.0

i hear insanity is better with incorporating more cardio to help with fat loss - any thoughts? I was wondeirng the same.
also final30 - I'm desi too and I can never find enough protein. I tried drinking more milk and eating tofu but it gets really boring and gross after a while - channa, dals, etc have too much carbs. any suggestions? I'm doing 50% carb, 25% ptn, 25% fat.0 -
I have a little more than 2 weeks left in my first round of P90X. I plan on immediately rolling into another round. I've lost almost 40 pounds so far. I've been tracking BF% and taking measurements and I can testify you can gain muscle mass on a calorie deficit (if that is your goal). Weight training will at the very least maximize the percentage of your weight loss that is fat loss (that's the goal right?). I love P90X. I haven't used the meal plan, just eating clean and using MFP.
Regarding falling off the wagon...you just have to truly commit. I'd put my schedule against that of anyone. My coworkers know my schedule and have to idea how I fit exercise into it all. Fact is I'd rather lose sleep than miss my workout. Also I was in terrible shape when I started this round. My fitness level is night an day better than it was. I still have another 30-40 lbs to go and hope to get there with another 90 days.
Regarding protein...try Greek yoghurt (14 g protein per 6 oz cup), whey protein powder (52 g protein in 2 scoops), almonds, etc.
I haven't done insanity but I believe it is more cardio intense than P90X. That doesn't mean P90X won't get your heart pounding. Personally I recommend weight training over cardio for fat loss vs weight loss.0
