Two-a-day workouts

Is there some other health/physiological benefit besides burning more calories that doing two-a-day workouts provides?
I'm considering starting to do two-a-days just to break up the monotony of long cardio sessions. For example, instead of one 30 minute workout I could get in two 20-25 minute workouts and burn a lot more calories. I was just wondering if there are any glaring advantages or disadvantages to two-a-days.

Cardio? Nah. A lot of people do cardio in the morning and strength training at night. I just wouldn't do two weight lifting sessions in one day.0
