I never have time to prepare anything when I leave for work in the morning and Im not one to cook anything. Does anyone have any healthy food ideas for on the go people like me???
My biggest problem is I dont have time in the morning to prepare anything so I find myself eating out ALL THE TIME!!!

While the kids are in school, when I pack their lunches, I tend to also get my day time meals and snacks ready too and put them in a little bag. Now, I work from home, so food is ALWAYS available. But during the day, I'm learning to only eat from the bag. When it's empty, then I simply wait until dinner and drinks lots of water.

I love tuna fish with relish and celery. The 100 calorie bags of popcorn are yummy too and take awhile to eat. I cut up my fruit instead of leaving it whole so it takes me longer to eat - and the crunchier vegetables the better. And strangely enough, when I hit the exhaustion wall, I always carry those to go peanut butters and a spoon and start eating one of those. Real pick me up with great source of good fat, protein, low glycemic sugars, and can fill you up if eaten slowly.

Just some suggestions i've started using.

Ummmmm... how 'bout you pack your lunch at night? I pack both my lunch and my son's, and get the coffee ready the night before. Make yourself a sandwich, or some soup, or grab a frozen dinner like a Lean Cuisine and pack some sides like a small salad, fruit, or cut up veggies. It usually takes me 20 minutes or less to pull it all together, and then it's one less thing I have to worry about in the morning.

I know they're a little more expensive, but I like the 100 calorie packs. I also like the 4oz Dannon Light & Fit yogurt (60 calories). Apples, oranges, bananas, grapes are pretty portable. I know I will eat every bit of chocolate I have around, so I really try to avoid it being within reach because I could snack all day too! Good luck!

I am really on the wagon for eating whole foods--hummus and whole wheat pita--taboule--fage (greek yogurt high in protein, low in calories, energizing--you can add fruit or cucumber or eat it plain, it's that good!) hard boiled eggs, whites only, salads with avocado and tomato, cucumber, etc. broccoli, bowls of frozen peas (cooked, of course), almonds, grapefruit. Most of those suggestions you can get "cooked" or ready to eat. If you are really a no cook kind of person, eat a frozen low calorie high protein meal for your lunch with some of the above as additions. I wouldn't do the frozen entree more than once a day, though, and always carry your water so you know how much you are drinking.

    Good luck!
