First 20 pounds was so easy

I started my weight loss journey at 220 pounds. I am now 192 and I feel like the weight loss is getting harder. I though it wasn't really hard until you almost got to your goal weight (mine is still 50 pounds away)

I have been working out 6 days a week and keeping myself busy (since I am a stay at home mom)
I also usually stay in my calorie range...1200-1400 calories a day.

Can anyone give any advice? Does anyone else feel discouraged?

I'm having the same trouble as you.... the first 19 pounds came off easily, but I've been hovering at the same weight for two months now. I'm trying to not to get discouraged, but it's getting a little frustrating.

I think you may need to change up your normal routine some. Your body could be adjusting...You are likely in the appropriate calorie range, as long as your not dropping below 1200 and eating back your excercise calories...maybe you need to switch up the excercise piece.

Don't get too frustrated..it is usually easier to drop weight in the beginning. You might want to look at your meal options as well, and ensure it's the right foods. You might be in your calorie range, but certain foods don't help with weight loss..

Your body just becomes more efficient, especially if you're routine isn't changing. Fun, isn't it?

It will get harder because you're also getting smaller, so you're moving less mass and therefore burning less calories. Just keep at it. Change up your routine, add in weight lifting, do two-a-days, etc. You'll get there, just keep chipping away at it.

1st is that your net calories or how much you eat total? If that is total you might not be eating enough, don't forget to log your calories burned from exercise so you know how much you have to eat back. You should net at a minimum 1200 calories a day, and that is the bare minimum.

2nd: try mixing up your routine. Either with what you are eating, what times you are eating, what exercising you are doing, etc. When the body gets too use to a routine it might need a little "shock" of something different to keep the weight loss going. When I was loosing the majority of my weight, I hit 2 plateau's, both times I changed my exercise routine and added a new healthy lifestyle tip to my diet (I tried to make 1 healthy change a month whether that be cutting out soda, going to whole grain pasta, etc) and that always seemed to help me get passed the plateau.

thanks for the advice. I am going to do a mix between insanity and 30 day shred so hopefully that helps instead of just sticking with insanity.
  • I'm at the exact same place! 192 and somewhat stuck, and that's after having eaten 800-1000 cals a day and exercising off over 1000 (also every day). How in the world I can have a deficit of over 1500 cals every day and still lose about a pound or two a week is beyond me (especially since I don't believe in starvation mode - I've done my research). Blerg. Frustrating.

I'm right there with you sweetie! It felt like the first 30 lbs were pretty easy (for the most part) I'm at 194 as of today and it seems like it takes me 2-3 weeks to lose 1 freakin lb.

I am change up my workout's often. I do pilates, walking/running, Turbo Jam, and a few other workouts. If you have other workout dvd's or a gym membership try using a different dvd or machine.

I hope this helps...if you just want to vent i'm here for ya :)
